In The Reel : Inception (2010)

Inception Movie POster

So its been two weeks now that the movie Inception was released in the USA. If you haven’t watched it I really do not know what is wrong with you. The following MAY contain some SPOILERS that would really take the Fun and amazement of the Movie. READ at your own RISK!

Before giving my professional critique I need to confess that I am an undercover film critique and recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and that my opinions are 100% Valid in all 50 states of America and Puerto Rico.

Alright, lets begin shall we.

No?

Wait.

Am I writing this in my dreams? Or am I dreaming that I am Dreaming of writing this post? Or am I dreaming that I am Dreaming that I am Dreaming of writing this post?

I see you get the point.  This movie should be categorized as one of the BEST representations of how the humans perceive the idea of dreams.  The ability to go and tap to the subconscious is such an intriguing concept, but ADDING the fact that one can alter someone else’s subconscious is mind-blowing! The director of this film Christopher Nolan [for those who do not know also directed the last two Batman films] really thought of this movie its bits an pieces and it is flawless.

The cast was incredible. Having 3 Oscar-winning actors [DiCaprio, Cottiard, Caine] , 2 Oscar Nominated [ Page, Watanabe ] and others coming from successful big budget films it was a great match to have them all be in this film. My favorite scene was all the way at the end when all the 5 levels of dreams were set off and one by one the began to submerge to the “real world” .

Besides having the perfect combination of a cast for this “heist” genre movie, what I think made this movie successful and profitable was the velocity of word of mouth these days. Our thumbs are our new mouths that can send a 140 character message to the world that people CAN respond to it and SHARE it. I think we will see a lot of profitable movies because of this.

What do you guys think of the movie? OSCAR contender? Over hype? Submit you comments below!

Until the next In The Reel!  [by the way check this awesome graphic to FULLY understand the 5 Levels! [click to view it larger!]

Blast from the Past: 2006 Marching Season

So Summer is in full swing and one of things that I am a HUGE FAN of is Marching. During the summer is when the PRO’s of marching compete and see who has the best show. So with that in mind, I’m in the works of recovering all the Jamboree performances I participated in [Nov 2003 – 2006]. This one in particular was really special to me since it was MY LAST one.

For all those who don’t know what Jamboree is/was  an annual competition/showcase of the marching bands and cheer squads from the Whittier Unified School District [ California High, La Serna, Pioneer, Santa Fe, and Whittier] . I say is/was because up to my senior year, Jamboree was the culmination of our marching season and we COMPETED for the sweepstakes prize. Since then, due to school politics the school board decided to take out the competition and replace it with a showcase. This really discourages all of the participants because they have no motivation of putting effort into it and make it a less of an exciting event.

Jamboree of 2006 was GREAT. Even though we did not win sweepstakes it was still an amazing experience. We ALL left our emotions and heart in that field that night. I’m not going to spoil the ending of the field show but on that last note I saw a flashback of all 4 years of marching passing through my mind. And wow, just hearing the crowd cheer was indescribable…

So, now enjoy the 2006 SFHS Chieftain Tribe and Color Guard’s A Pirate Story!
